Home learning

Children will bring home a reading book each Friday. We are following the Little Wandle phonics programme and we will read a book 3 times at school and then send that book home for you to read with your child at home. The books have some great hints and tips for how to help your child read and understand their books so that they can answer lots of questions about what they have just read. Don't forget to fill in the reading record so that we know how many times your child has read during the week.

Some children will bring home grapheme charts to support their learning of the sounds and letters. Please go through these regularly to support your child in their early stages of reading.

Year 2 will have the spellings for the half term stuck into their reading record books. We will learn 6 new spellings each week and test them on a Friday.

Children may bring home other challenges and tasks depending on what subject we are currently learning about or perhaps individual tasks for children who need to practise a particular skill.
