Our children go to Ripon Baths for swimming lessons every week from September until the end of the Spring Term (Easter).
Our Sports Coach, Jack Loudon, works with the children every Friday, targeting a different sport each half term.
As part of the Harrogate School Sports Partnership our children compete with local rural schools in a variety of sporting events each year including football, netball, gymnastics, cricket and orienteering. For more information about the Sports Partnership click here
Our school hosts an annual Cross-Country event for a number of local schools. It is held in the summer term in the grounds of Newby Hall.
The children appointed two school ambassadors to represent Skelton Newby Hall at termly meetings with the local cluster school. At the meetings they have been focusing on healthy eating and how to encourage this at home and within in the school as well as general wellbeing.
The Federation of Skelton Newby Hall and Sharow have a school council made up of class representatives that meet to discuss issues and bring forward ideas about the schools. This year they have focused on ways to make everyone happier, ideas for Children in Need, healthier eating and school food. They recently enjoyed a visit from North Yorkshire County Caters to discuss their ideas with them.
The Archbishop of York's Young Leaders Award
This will be the second year that our Year 6 take part in the Archbishop of York's Young Leaders Award Scheme. Last year they successfully arranged a village litter pick and summer fair at the school. In recognition of their hard work they were invited to Swinton Park for a tour and afternoon tea with the Young Leaders Award team.
